Feedback themes

 Hello Sport Communicators,

The most common theme from the Stop, start, continue feedback sheet was you all liked the assignment examples and detailed feedback, but without the group stats bit. I hear you. I will continue this practice and remove the group statistics in an effort to help you thrive in the course. If this is not reflective of your learning style and you need to come talk to me feel free to stay after class and discuss the topics or assignments more in depth.  I am here to help you learn in the way that is best for you, come see me!

  2. As a teacher, I find providing my students with examples and plenty of feedback helps my students understand how to complete the assignment and makes them more successful in the courses I teach. I love how understanding you are of student learning styles and reflective on your teaching to support your students in the classroom. This blog post would be helpful for all educators. Thank you for sharing.

  3. I also teach and the demographic I am teaching is very low in many areas. Therefore it is very easy for them to fell discouraged and easily quit due to not being able to understand the material I am presenting to them. But, I feel as I have made positive strides in many areas of my students as I continually provide feedback to them on the work they are completing. I allow for my students to reflect and explain their own opinions other than just a cut and dry assignment.

  5. When reading this it made think about the first class that I took with you! Providing examples of your assignments were a big help. It also makes it to where we as students are not emailing asking what and how to do it. You making want to reading the long articles and assignments worth the challenge that were up against. Thanks for help bring out more of what I said I can not do as to where I can do!

  7. Great post felt like I was going back to my first class when I was an undergrad. Stressful times but great rewards.

  8. I like the fact that it gives students a method of communication and lets them voice if it's helpful or not to them. Because everyone has their own way of learning. Also, that fact that the instructor is showing they care about what's going on.

  9. Great work here. I am a teacher, so this blog really hits home for me. I feel that it is our job to inspire kids to become the best version of themselves. Managing stress is as important as it gets, so getting students to understand that at a young age could help them out in the long run.

  11. I greatly appreciate a professor that welcomes feedback and is open to changing and adapting to the needs of her students. As an educator myself I wanted my kids to feel comfortable telling me what they needed to learn best and I just believe it goes a long way for learning and building relationships/trust. Thank you

  12. This blog post is awesome and is great due to the on going feedback you both seeking and willing to receive you know most traditional course request for end of the year evaluations to receive feedback in a reactive manner for the next enrollment this is simply a great proactive action to engage and connect with professor and student during the course experience.

  13. I just really appreciate the opportunity that you give us to get some extra credit. There are days and times that I feel like I'm so overwhelmed working full time, coaching full time, being a parent full time and working on a master's degree full time that I don't get to do the most quality work on everything all the time. The parenting thing doesn't get to earn anything less than a 100% A+ grade, so when the quality of an assignment does, it's nice to know that you have our backs and can give us some wiggle room.

  14. Thanks for sharing, I think this kind of teaching mode is very helpful for me personally. The teaching mode of teachers in Asia is usually that the teacher directly teaches us, and tells us what to do, there is little opportunity for us to think and reflect. That's why I feel so much different when I study in the US, I think what I've learned here is belong to myself, not what I've been told.

  15. I believe this is a great theory to get involve in because this help find our weaknesses. It help us find what we need to work on and it kills whatever that is holding us back.

  16. I like the flexibility and that it is adaptable. Typically, teachers assume that the student needs to adapt; however, that is not always conducive to a learning environment. If you want to get the most out of someone, this is a great way to do so! This allows us to be individuals and critical thinkers in our own way.

  17. I thought this topic was very interesting to think about. I think that the more open teachers/coaches/administrators are to what helps students the most, the more productive the learning environment will be. It allows both parties to work well together. Whatever helps students or athletes learn in the most productive way possible, the better!
