Sport Marketing play list

What are they calling this nowadays? I wanted to call it a mix tape, lol, but I do not think that is right. Anyways, about mid-week on week 1 I asked my students what songs are filling them with light right now. Yes, I am that sappy. Judge away. I did not get responses right away, so I told them Sofia (my 4 year old) suggested baby shark and that would be what we listened to during our class break next class. Then CJ came to the rescue with an amazing song. When class break time came about on week 2, we decided CJ's song was more appropriate for around midterm time. So we listened to Eddies suggestion. Here it is:

On week 3 we are listening to Kellen and Ellie's suggestions below:

I look forward to see what other suggestions my awesome Sport Marketers have to lighten up the mood during our class breaks and as we get to know each other better during the term =D

What about my online students and students from other classes? Post links to the songs that are filling you with light right now. Keep it PG please as this is an education bog ;P

Mega-events physical activity legacy

 Article summary

We would like sport mega-events to leave lasting legacies in the communities than host them. Unfortunately, that is not always the case. The hosting city hopes to have tangible legacies, such as increased tourism; intangible ones, such as national pride; and affect the community's education, infrastructure, and activity levels.

Theories used to study legacies of mega-events:

  • Demonstration effect: Inspire physical activity from watching elite performers
  • Festival effect: Inspire physical activity through community enthusiasm and a convivial atmosphere.
There is little evidence of prolonged increases in participation due to hosting mega-events. However, there is hope for cities to still impact the activity levels of their citizens when hosting sporting mega-events if the government 1) engages the community, 2) develops long-lasting strategies, and 3) coordinates efforts with stakeholders.

Sport Communication Syllabus - Summer 2021

In case you missed my awesome interactive syllabus
ESPE 6143 Sport Communication -10A
CRN 30514
 ESPE 6143 - 10A

Sport Comm FAQ week 1

 Hello sport communicators,

Thank you for submitting your questions to your academic coaches:

Ms. Melanie Hosty (mhosty@astate.edu)

Ms. Kristen Buynar (kbuynar@astate.edu)

Mr. Mark Zeka (mzeka@astate.edu)

They compiled them for me and here is the summary of the need to know.

  1. I have discontinued the use of the writing center for the syllabus assignment. What you saw on that video was residual from last year when I was trying that out. I found it did not scale well, so we will no longer be using them for small assignments like the synthesis papers.
  2. The discussions should include all articles for the week, not just one article.
  3. The mini-doc info sheet has been redone.
  4. Yuja has also been discontinued. A-State has now contracted with Kalutra and IT has made you a how-to video in case you are struggling to upload your intro video. It is located in week 1 activities' folder.
  5. You can make your mini-doc on an organization (or part of an organization) you work for, and it does not have to be pro sports. It can be anything in parks and rec, high school, club sports, college athletics, you name it!
Check out this video for more detailed information =D

Midterm suggestions

It is midterm suggestions time! (at least for some of you, do not forget I have courses going on 16-week time periods, and courses going on 7-week time periods, so if this seems like an odd time to post a midterm suggestion post, that's because this particular eval probably does not apply to you :P

Check out the form below. It is anonymous. so I will not know who said what, but you are still a person (and my student), and I am still a person (and your professor, who has your best interest at heart and is trying extra hard to give you the best college or graduate experience possible). Thus, I expect you not to take this anonymity as an excuse to be a jerk (OK?). I still expect the utmost professionalism and respect from you, and kindly worded feedback.
